Hello there! I'm a software developer with experience in a lot of different technologies such as .NET, React, Vue, Angular, Java; and I've primarily worked in the healthtech space. I'm located in Virginia Beach, Virginia (the United States) and am open to working with you in either an employee or contract role. I can work in office or remote.

My work experience has led me to become an expert at writing tests and documentation. In all of my positions I've successfully brought our applications from development into production using cloud service providers such as Azure.

My strengths include meeting all assigned deadlines, provide a clear explanation of code, identify problems and provide solutions.

My weaknesses include holding others to the same standard that I hold myself to.

Work History

Firefighter and EMT
Bossier Parish Fire District One

I am a former Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician who transitioned into a career as a Software Developer after a decade of service. During my time in emergency services, I collaborated with the Veteran's Affairs as a contractor, contributing to a significant reduction in appointment wait times for patient transport. My record proudly boasts zero accidents, and all my patient interactions were characterized by a commitment to their well-being.

My journey began at a small-town fire department when I was just sixteen, where I later became a paid part-time Firefighter at nineteen years old. Even when off-duty, I continued to volunteer my time, receiving the prestigious Presidential Volunteer Service Award (Gold Level) from President Barack Obama for my dedication. I was also the driver for implementing department policies such as implementing a staging area for all "Rapid-intervention tools".

Working within a highly professional fire department taught me the importance of teamwork and integrity. I was fortunate to receive mentorship from some of the best leaders in the Fire Service, with the exception of A-Shift, which is universally known for its quirks. Among the various Fire Departments and EMS systems I encountered, this department stood out for its unparalleled knowledge and experience.

In summary, my career transition reflects a commitment to excellence, teamwork, and unwavering dedication to service.

Emergency Medical Technician
Veteran's Affairs, Federal Contractor

After transitioning to the Veteran's Affairs as an Emergency Medical Technician and federal contractor, my role encompassed patient care in both emergency and non-emergency settings, involving duties as a driver and care provider. During this period, I confronted the challenge of long appointment wait times within the VA system, and I proactively collaborated with the hospital system to address this crisis. My contribution involved devising a communication framework that streamlined processes between patients, transport agencies, and hospitals, resulting in significant reductions in wait times and, ultimately, saving lives.

My experiences in this role led to my rapid promotion to a field training officer, where I leveraged my prior expertise from the Fire Department to train and mentor new EMTs and drivers. Additionally, I initiated daily training sessions and introduced the potential for FHIR integration into the ePCR systems. This initiative stemmed from my passion for enhancing patient care and ultimately motivated my transition into the field of software development.

Junior to Mid-level
Software Developer
Curved Arrow Networks

In 2018, I embarked on my software career as a Junior Software Developer, where I made significant contributions to a medical SaaS project. My work spanned the development of websites using both monolithic and microservices architectures. After two years, I transitioned to a mid-level developer role, collaborating closely with clients and our internal team to ensure that project requirements were not only met but also translated into profitable applications for both our company and clients.

This role required seamless teamwork with fellow developers and contracted service providers, including graphic designers and specialists. Unfortunately, the company had to close due to the unsuccessful launch of their medical SaaS. Throughout this journey, I gained expertise in database management (MySQL/MariaDB, MS SQL Server 2019), PHP (monolithic/REST API) and .NET (MVC, API, WinForms) and proficiency in various JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, and Vue).

That's me, David Duron.
Advanced Correctional Healthcare

In November 2023, I was hired to Advanced Inmate Medical Management which is a subsidiary of Advanced Correctional Healthcare, Inc.

Here, I was the sole developer on their new EHR system which had new requirements due to the advancement of technology since their previous system was released in 2012. These requirements ranged from e-prescribing requirements to integration with third-party systems for standards.
The company was in bad shape, there were multiple developers over a year time period and no documentation or tests were written. I took it upon myself to write these.
In addition, i completed all features assigned to me in each sprint within the deadline. I even re-wrote the company's authentication using MS Identity and all HL7 integrations.
I left this company on Apirl 30, 2024 after my work agreement had ended.
